10/12/21 Special Election State Representative District 29 Vacancy

September 15, 2021

The Jasper County Auditor’s office was notified on September 14 that a Special Election would be held for the voters in Jasper County residing in State Rep. 29 district due to a vacancy of this seat. Voters in the precincts of Clear Creek/Poweshiek (Mingo), Colfax, Des Moines (Prairie City), Hickory Grove (Kellogg), Independence/Malaka/Mariposa (Baxter), Mound Prairie/Washington and all of Newton will vote in this Special Election.

Due to the limited notice of this election, absentee voting will not begin until the auditor’s office receives the candidate certifications from the Secretary of State’s office which won’t be until September 29. Ballot layouts won’t be ready until after that date and we don’t know when we will receive the ballots. Once we receive the ballots, voters may vote in the Jasper County Auditor’s office until October 11. The Auditor’s office will also be open Saturday, October 9 for absentee voting for this election only.

The polls will be open on Election Day from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm.

At this time, we are working on polling locations and will update that information soon.
